The Beautiful Monster

Chapter 135 - Past The Storm

Alyssa sank into the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck to hold him close. She wished that this moment would last forever, but she knew that she would remember it forever.

Whenever she felt lonely or lost, she would remember this moment and how she was held and caressed so dearly by the boy that she loved so much.

She had learned a lot during her years at college, but the most important lessons that she learned hadn\'t been taught in the classroom.

She learned so much from her life experiences and relationships. Emotional success meant more than academic success.

Being in love and having a healthy relationship with people would make her happier than getting a good grade in class.

Elias taught her so much, and she was grateful for every single little lesson, even if he didn\'t realize that he taught it to her.

He showed her how worthy she was of love because her parents made her think that she didn\'t deserve it in the first place..

He taught her how to open up her heart to someone that she could trust and to accept help from others.

He taught her all the important things, and he was one of the most important things to her. He always would be.

***************

Alyssa knocked on the door to Cole and Zoe\'s apartment before taking a step back. She had been invited over by Zoe to come check the place out and chat.

She had been to Cole\'s place a few times, so she was interested to see what Zoe had done to the place since she moved in.

She could only imagine all of the interesting decorations now in place.

Zoe flung the door open a few moments later and smiled at Alyssa.

"Hey!" she greeted her friend before throwing her arms around Alyssa.

Alyssa smiled and hugged Zoe back, squeezing her tightly. She took advantage of any opportunity to see Zoe since the semester was ending in a week.

She would linger around for the rest of the month to get her things together, but she was moving during June or July for sure.

She wanted to get settled in New York and get used to the atmosphere before medical school started.

"Give me a tour," she told Zoe once they walked into the apartment.

With an excited look, Zoe showed Alyssa around the apartment, pointing out some of the paintings on the wall and little pieces of decór that she placed around the apartment. She went all out when it came to decorating the place.

It was a little witchy, a little pastel, and everything in between. It all meddled together well, though.

"Cole has been so great about letting me decorate. This place was so bare when I moved in," Zoe said as they moved to sit on the beige sofa in the living room.

"Where is Cole?" Alyssa asked, realizing that it was just them.

"At work," Zoe sighed before reaching forward to grab a notepad off the coffee table in front of the couch. "We need to plan the party."

Alyssa nodded, knowing they had a lot of work to do.

"We can handle the drinks and food. Elias likes to cook," she said with a light laugh. She was so lucky to have landed the guy that liked to cook. He made masterpieces every single time he went into the kitchen.

Zoe cracked a smile and nodded.

"That sounds great. Is he busy? He can come over and help us plan," she suggested.

"I\'ll see. He doesn\'t have class right now," Alyssa replied before grabbing her phone and clicking on his contact to call him.

She lifted the phone to her ear, listening to it ring a few times before Elias picked up.

"Hello?" Elias answered. His voice was almost hushed.

"Hey. Are you busy? Zoe and I are planning the graduation party if you want to come over and help," Alyssa replied in a hopeful voice. It would be fun to go over ideas together.

"I\'m busy. I… I\'ll talk to you later," Elias said.

Alyssa frowned slightly, wondering what he was doing. He didn\'t say anything about having something to do today.

"Oh. Okay," she said, managing to get those words out before the call ended. She stared at her phone in confusion, wondering what that was about.

She hoped that everything was alright, but she told herself not to stress and worry over what was possibly nothing.

"Everything okay?" Zoe asked as she gave Alyssa a concerned look.

"Yeah, he\'s just busy," Alyssa replied as she put her phone down. She was sure that she would be able to talk to him later and figure out what was going on. For now, she wanted to focus on the party. If she could.

"Is everything going okay with you two?" Zoe asked as she crossed her legs.

Alyssa nodded with a small smile.

"Yeah, it\'s been a lot better. I feel like we\'re getting past the storm finally," she replied. Besides the phone call, he had been acting normal, so she was holding onto the hope that things were finally settling down right before graduation.

Zoe smiled at Alyssa as she nodded.

"That\'s great. I\'m happy for you guys," she said as she reached out to take Alyssa\'s hands.

"I\'m happy for you and Cole too. Your place is amazing," Alyssa replied as she looked around at the open layout of the apartment. The space was truly theirs. She could feel it.

"I can\'t wait to see your place with Elias too," Zoe said.

Alyssa wondered what their place in New York City would look like. It would probably be small, so the decorations and furniture would be limited, but she was determined to make the place look like only theirs.

She wanted influence from both of them, so he would have to tolerate a little more shopping. She was sure that he didn\'t mind, though.

"We\'re no longer going to be seniors next week," she said with a look of disbelief. How did that happen so fast?

Zoe drew in a deep breath as she nodded.

"Where did the time go?" she said with a light laugh. "This party has to be the best party to happen since we got to college. No exceptions."
