Chapter 171
“You know what? These past few days. Working with all of you. These were the best days of my life in a long, long time. I forgot all the problems in my life,” A drunk Brad poured his heart out in front of everyone at the table.
“This was the best project that I have worked on,” Brad lightly slapped the table and said, “And it is all because of Veronica. My sweet little cutie, cutie Veronica.” Brad twisted his body to look towards Veronica, who sat on his left, with Abir in between.
“I have long since god knows when wished to work with Veronica once, at least, once. But never did the opportunity present itself in front of me. I was beginning to lose hope,” Brad scanned everyone’s face, looking disappointed, but in a flash, there was a smile on his face, “But at last... I finally got what I wished for, and I was not disappointed. Veronica, you were so accommodating that I can’t thank you enough. Thank you, Veronica... Thank you.” Brad said and tried to reach out and grab Veronica’s hands, but Abir was quick enough to interfere.
“There is no need to be formal, Brad,” Abir, with a smile, held Brad’s hands and intertwined his fingers with his, “We are all here for you. If you ever need a shoulder to rely on, don’t hesitate to ask.”
It has been close to an hour since Alex and Abir walked into the room. And now the booze has finally started to show its effect. Brad and a few others have gotten a bit tipsy.
“You know what? These few months have been my solace,” Instantly, Brad pulled his hands away, getting rid of Abir and looked at Lily, “From all the chik-chik, ear-bleeding quarrels and annoying squabbles.”
.....
“With whom?” Lily was the only one who looked interested.
“Who else?” Brad frowned, making faces, “My wife, who else.”
“Your wife?” Lily put her hands over her mouth, exclaiming in surprise.
“Ummm...” Brad nodded like a kid, “Marrying her was the worst mistake of my life.”
“But you both look so lovely together,” Lily put her hand on his and sympathised with Brad.
Brad smiled and was about to put his other hand over Lily’s.
“You don’t know her. She is so controlling that I can’t even meet my friends and have a good time with them,” Brad said as he softly caressed Lily’s arm, sending a tingling down her body.
When Mr Lulu saw that, he, on an impulse, pulled her daughter’s hand away, taking everyone by surprise.
As everyone in the room turned their face towards Mr Lulu, it took him a second to realise what he had done.
“Ahem...” clearing his throat, Mr lulu straightened his back, “I think we have had enough of the alcohol. We should get going to the hotel. After all, we have a flight to catch tomorrow,” Mr Lulu tried to cover up his intentions behind his reaction.
“Oh, C’mon, old man,” Brad knew that it was not as simple as it looked, and he knew what Mr Lulu was thinking, “The night is still young, and none of us has had their fill.”
Brad then grabbed the bottle from the table, poured a drink, and handed over the glass to Mr lulu, “Let us all pour out all our pain, resentment and anger from our hearts.”
“I...” Mr lulu wanted to refuse, but he could not match Brad’s age and was forcibly made to drink the whole glass in one go.
“That’s good... Yes, yes... Now that’s like a good boy,” Brad, with a smile on his face, praised Mr Lulu with every gulp.
“Aughh...” Mr Lulu finally pushed away the glass, “My throat... It feels like it’s burning. What was it?”
“Ah, nothing... Just something to make you feel lightheaded,” Brad smirked, “Here, drink this, and you will experience nirvana... C’mon... One-shot! One-shot!” Brad grabbed another bottle and pushed the remaining alcohol down Mr Lulu’s throat.
“It’s...” Lily tried to intervene, worried about her father, but she was hesitant to go against Brad as well.
“It’s alright...” Brad assured Lily with a smile, “A bit of this every now and then is good... It will help him sleep better,” Brad winked as he put down the empty bottle.
“How do you feel, Lulu, my darling,” Brad pinched Mr Lulu’s cheek as he acted all lovey-dovey with Mr Lulu.
“Ummm... You... know what?” Mr Lulu turned towards brad and held his face between his fingers, “You were kind of right. I feel free. I feel like flying to the end of the world,” Mr Lulu smiled, and bang, he slapped the table.
“Dad...” Lily held Mr Lulu’s arm, trying to keep him still.
“Lily?” Mr Lulu looked at his daughter in astonishment, “You had a twin sister? Your mother never told me...” Intoxicated, Mr Lulu rubbed his eyes, “Wait a minute, another one got here... and another one. Now there are four of you. That whore... Who was she fucking all this time? Who fertilised four of her eggs? It was not me for sure.” Mr Lulu was fuming in anger. He pulled out his phone, ready to call his wife.
“She must be busy making a baby even now,” Mr Lulu murmured, “I will divorce her right here, right now. Bring me a maulvi, that guy with a beard and no moustache. I will convert to islam right now and divorce that bitch on the phone.” Pissed, Mr Lulu had no idea what he was blabbering about.
And the one who had it the hardest was Lily. Along with the crazy-ass antics of her father, she had to bear the scornful looks of everyone present there. In reality, she was starting to get fed up with always taking care of her father like a nanny. The only thing Lily loved and respected about her father was his craze for his work, something she inherited from him. But lately, she couldn’t help but question herself, ‘Was it all worth it?’ And if anything, this ruckus was not helping his case.
Finally, when Lily was about to lose it, another hand supported Mr Lulu. It was Abir. He could not take it anymore. Alex could feel the uneasiness on his face when he was sitting beside him. After all, who could understand the meaning behind those mocking eyes better than him? n.m
And with the help of Abir, Lily took her father along with her out of the room. They were probably not going to come back.
“Awww... Loverboy to the rescue,” Brad commented as he watched the three of them walk out of the room, “Abir has gotten so smooth. Without even uttering a word, he walked out with a girl. Hashhh... I was like that too.”
But Veronica had her eyebrows knit when she heard Brad make fun of her brother. No matter how badly, like a donkey, she treated her. She was not going to tolerate a rascal like this bastard making jokes on him. After all, blood is always thicker than water. And here in front of her was nothing but sewage water.
Angry, Veronica snatched the glass of wine the lady beside her was drinking and splashed it all over Brad’s face. And if that was not enough, she picked up the grilled meat from the plate and plastered it on Brad’s face completing her painting.
But Brad was not angry in the slightest. Instead, he chuckled, “My... My... Fiesty as ever. But I like it. At last, I could feel your touch.” Brad removed the meat from his face and creepily licked his fingers, staring intently at Veronica.
That was it. The party, which was nothing but boring, and all about Brad from the start, was now creepy as well.
Veronica could not take it anymore and left the room as well. She was also followed by a couple of other girls.
Lastly, in the room were a few guys, including Alex and Brad.
“Chhu... Chhu...” Brad signalled towards Alex and waved at him to come closer, “You are the producer, aren’t you?” Brad asked.
“Uhmm... Umm...” Alex nodded.
“Can you add a fiery love-making scene to the next schedule?” Brad asked, “I want to ravish that nice big ass of that bitch.” Brad expressed his desire as he pointed back at the door, looking straight into Alex’s eyes. He was, without a doubt, talking about Veronica.
“Excuse me... A what now?” Alex looked at Brad, frowning.
