Chapter 12 Din Don Birds
The wind surged and the voices of the orcs seemed to be getting louder with the updraft. Several orcs had joined in the argument, and tensions are getting higher.
However, unlike what most would expect, the red goblin chief just stood observing the situation with a smile.
Ignoring the bickering of both sides, Elric quickly communicated with the A.I. "Hurry up A.I. chip tell me the result!" The smile on the opposing chief didn\'t sit well with him.
[One result found!]
[The host should challenge the red goblin to a one-on-one duel, considering their pride this has a higher chance for success]
*Cough cough*
However, before Elric could make a move, the opposite chief had already sprung into action.
"Zriork is it? I am Slohet, the great chief of the redskin tribe!" With a look of pride on his face, he started to speak.
Hearing the familiar introduction, everyone couldn\'t help but have a weird look on their face. "Do all goblin chiefs talk the same way?" Although he didn\'t know the answer Elric was sure most of his tribesmen thought so too.
"Slohet, what are you doing here?" Ignoring the weird faces all around, Zriork immediately diverted his attention from Clelut to Slohet.
"As you can see, on the command of the great God of war, Asir, I have been tasked to take you and the rest of your men back." Looking at the way Elric and the rest remained impassive, he could help but try to persuade them again.
"Don\'t worry, I can bring back your human pets if you wa-" suddenly, he was interrupted by a tribesman in the crowd.
"We are not human pets! Just you wait, the young master is going to lead us to change the world." It was a weak-looking boy by the name of Alvin that shouted out, displeased with the current situation.
As he spoke, the air seemed to calm down, and Slohet remembering the real reason for their outing today, gradually put on a serious face. Before anyone could notice, he quickly turned it back to his usual smile.
"Oh really? And tell me how are you going to change the world?" With a smile that resembled a bad Uncle giving a child candy, he started to coax Alvin into giving answers
"You see the young master discove- "A large hand suddenly appeared covering his mouth stopping him from continuing.
"Shut it! Did the young master permit you to talk about it?" With steam coming out of his ears, Davis thanked himself for his quick reaction.
"But they were mocking us and the young master!"
"Still, that doesn\'t give you the right to talk about things you shouldn\'t have!"
Before they could start to bicker, George, who stood beside them, caught their attention.
"Um, guys?"
"What!?!?" Both men, lost in their growing tension, snapped to reply.
"Look the young master seems to have gone ahead"
With that, they turned their heads simultaneously, noticing that Elric had somehow now appeared in front of Slohet.
Meanwhile, Elric continued to talk to his A.I. chip mentally.
"A.I. chip are you sure this is going to work?"
[Trust me host, the chances for success are over 100 percent!]
Taking a deep breath, he walked in front of Slohet and spoke, "Dormammu I\'ve come to bargain!\'
"Dormam who?" Everyone on both sides was stunned by the sudden intrusion.
With an awkward cough, he elaborated, "I mean Slohet I\'ve come to bargain!" Elric couldn\'t help but make another slight cough as he tried to clear the atmosphere, thankfully there was no one from the blue star here.
"Although I do not know who is this Dormammu you speak off, it seems like you are here to beg for your lives?"
"Do not fear humans I have already agreed to let Zriork and the others too keep you pets as long as they cooperate with us." With that, he subconsciously raised his chin to the sky as if to give off a domineering effect.
"No, I\'ve come to challenge you to a duel! If I win you let us go, if you win, we\'ll all go with you," ignoring Slohet\'s words, he directly spoke his purpose.
"What!" The crowd was shocked, both man and goblin alike.
``No, young master, don\'t!"
"Elric no!"
Alvin and the others who had now noticed something was amiss, immediately spoke up.
"Zriork do something!"
They tried hard to intervene but their complaints were to no avail.
Unlike acting like his usual talkative self, Zriork at his point had kept quiet. Recalling the beastly aura he felt from Elric the first time they met, he knew this whited-haired human was not simple.
Seeing Zriorks reaction, a wave of despair rushed over them.
"All of you shut up! If you believe in me as a leader, you\'ll listen to what I say!" Shouting at the top of his lungs, Elric couldn\'t help but silence the crowd. Although it was a bit reckless for a leader to charge straight into battle, it was something he had to do.
Seeing Elric taking one for the team, Slohet immediately burst into a hearty laugh, "Haha human, I admire your courage! This is how a man should act!"
"So does that mean you accept the challenge?"
"Why not? A real man never runs from a challenge!" Taking a glance at Zriork in the crowd, Slohet immediately agreed to the challenge.
"But chie-"
"Humph Shut it Clelut! Do you think I don\'t know how you were appointed my second in command? Don\'t forget we goblins hate traitors!"
Noticing the anger on Slohet\'s face, although unwilling, Clelut wisely kept quiet.
"Human I agree but I choose the location of the fight" Ignoring Clelut, Slohet once again faced Elric.
"Sure, but where would that be?"
As if waiting for this question, Slohet immediately spoke up with a loud voice, "not far from here there is a place called Freedom Town! Where they have a large arena used for warrior battles!"
"Warrior battle!"
"Warrior battle!"
"Warrior battle!"
"Warrior battle!"
Immediately the crowd from both green and red goblin sides, started to chant in excitement for the so-called \'warriors battle\'
"I agree with that but what do you mean by a nearby town? Isn\'t Freedom Town far away?" Elric immediately agreed but thinking of the distance he couldn\'t help but ask.
\'Humph! It\'s obviously a weak human who has never seen the world," with a mumble under his breath Clelut began to belittle Elric and others, but like usual both goblins and humans ignored him.
"Ha-ha you must be talking about the normal route, we of the red skin tribe know of a special way to get there quickly"
"How?"
"Follow me!" Turning abruptly, he waved his hands to beckon them like dogs, then he led them to an open space that was filled with giant blue birds.
To Elric, they appeared like giant parrots but with eagle wings.
"Din don birds!" It was the shaman who cried out, shocked by their appearance.
"Yes, Din don birds! This seat personally found where they stayed and made friends with them. Now all you need to do is offer food and they\'ll take us where we need to go."
With that said, he threw a large sack towards the Birds.
"Old friends, I would like to bother you to take us to Freedom town."
"Din don!" Taking a deep look at Zriork and the others, the largest bird among the flock gave out a cry signalling the others to fall in line behind it.
"I can see where they get their name."
"Yes, these birds were named after the peculiar din don noise they make."
After a brief discussion, they each immediately got on a bird and headed for the town.
