Mr. Rong's Lovelorn Diary

Chapter 33 - That was bullshit.

“Are you feeling better? Still feeling unwell?” Chen Keyao looked back at him as he walked into the kitchen with the yogurt.

“Not too bad. Should be OK now,” Rong Yi frowned at the bag in his hand. “Why did you buy so much yogurt?”

“I saw they were having a special sale, so I bought more than usual.” Chen Keyao looked quite smug.

Hearing this, Rong Yi’s heart sank immediately. He stepped forward quickly, took out one pack of yogurt from the bag and began to look for the best before date.

Sure enough, the best before date was tomorrow.

He shoved the pack with the best before date side up under Chen Keyao’s eyes: “Would you be able to drink all these in time?”

Chen Keyao was shocked: “Oh?”

Then he immediately opened the pack, took out a yogurt and put it in Rong Yi’s hand. “Quick, drink it!”

“...”

Just as Rong Yi was trying to find words to say, Chen Keyao opened another yogurt and walked towards the kitchen, shouting, “Sister Lan, you’ve been working too hard. Come for a yogurt first.”

Baby son was suddenly so caring. Sister Lan was very pleased and accepted the expiring yoghurt happily.

Rong Yi sighed, and just as he ripped off the lid and took a sip, Chen Keyao poked his head out of the kitchen again: “Is one enough? Would you like some more?”

This guy bought three packs, eight cartons in each pack. It was most certainly impossible to drink them all before their best by dates. Rong Yi was rather puzzled about how Chen Keyao had survived when he lived by himself.

Although he would really like to complain bitterly about it, seeing Chen Keyao’s pleading eyes and his raised hand with the yogurt, Rong Yi didn’t have the heart to turn him down.

The consequence was that he could hardly eat anything at dinner.

Sister Lan’s cooking was not top-notch, but she still managed to make several nice-lloking home-cooked dishes. However, Rong Yi was fed a bellyful of yogurt by Chen Keyao, so only after a few mouthfuls, he was burping and belching, all of which smelled like yogurt.

“Xiao Rong, you don’t seem to have any appetite. Are you still sick?” Sister Lan’s face looked worried, “You need to eat more when you’re unwell, so that you’ll get enough nutrition and will soon be better. Yao Yao, what are you sitting there for? Why don’t you get more food into his bowl.”

Chen Keyao hesitated for a moment. Under Rong Yi’s sharp watch, he carefully picked up a cowpea and put it on the rice in his bowl.

“Eat some more, eat some more?” He said.

Sister Lan was anxious: “You silly boy. Is this how you help people with food?”

She then demonstrated in person by picking up a big rib and pressed it on the pitiful cowpea in Rong Yi’s bowl.

“Honestly, he’s such a fool,” sister Lan said indignantly, “Xiao Rong, how did you fall for him in the past?”

Rong Yi looked down at the shining rib and felt the yogurt bubbling in his stomach. How did he fall for Chen Keyao at that time? Of course it was Chen Keyao’s good looks that had tricked him in. This aunt should conduct a self-criticism for having created such a good-looking ‘silly boy’.

Fortunately, he was proficient in the business of pretending to be a boyfriend, and was able to put on a boast for anyone even if he was super stupid/silly.

“He... is a nice person, “Rong Yi smiled.” He is honest, reliable, and good to me. ”

“ahem.” Honest man Chen Keyao made a strange noise.

“That’s true,” on the whole Sister Lan was still full of love for her son. “Although Yao Yao looks a bit unapproachable, he’s actually really good-natured. Well, it’s just that how he managed to turned his face into something like that? II haven’t seen him for a while, so I was shocked when I first saw it today.”

“It’s not too bad now,” said Rong Yi. “It’s a lot better than before. It should become totally invisible in a few months.”

Sister Lan frowned and stared at that side of Chen Keyao’s face for a while, immersed in her own thinking. This was making Chen Keyao feel very uncomfortable.

“Please eat your dinner. What are you looking at me for?”

“You two seem to have been together for a long time,” said Sister Lan suddenly. “Have you ever thought about when to get married?”

Rong Yi was just making effort to bite into the big rib, but now hearing these words, he was instantly choked.

This was too much, beyond the scope of his ‘fake-partner’ business.

He hurried to look at Chen Keyao, and that guy obviously was dumbfounded too. Fortunately, he soon calmed down and said pretentiously, “This... The main reason is that Rong Yi’s career is still at the rising stage, so the timing is not good right now.”

Sister Lan seemed unsatisfied with the answer. She wanted to say something, but in the end only sighed, “Come on, you young people all have your own ideas.”

Both young men breathed a silent sigh of relief.

Sister Lan then said, “I came back this time because your brother is going to get married.”

Chen Keyao had a brother? As Rong Yi was looking surprised, Sister Lan explained to him, “It’s my husband’s child after I remarried, two years younger than Yao Yao.”

Rong Yi nodded.

No wonder Chen Keyao also seemed to have only just heard the news. This effortlessly-obtained brother didn’t seem to be very close to him.

“My husband said he’d like you to attend the wedding too,” said Sister Lan, “just this weekend. You should have time?

“Yes,” Chen Keyao promised, “I’ll go with you.”

“So...” Sister Lan turned her attention to Rong Yi. “Xiao Rong, will you come with us?”

Rong Yi slumped on the sofa chair in Chen Keyao’s room, his big belly hanging out and feeling painful.

The ribs, the cowpeas and the yogurt all fermented into a strange taste in his stomach, which made him want to throw up whenever he belched.

Chen Keyao sat beside him and laughed, “If you don’t want to go, you can say you’re busy. It doesn’t matter.”

Rong Yi glanced at him.

Now you are giving me some smart belated advice. I’ve brazened it out just now and made a promise.

Seeing that he was silent, Chen Keyao said again, “Your great kindness can’t be repaid by any means...”

Except by surrendering yourself to me. Rong Yi automatically finished the sentence off in his heart, and then immediately displayed a look of disgust.

You keep vomiting at me; you’d be useless even if you surrendered yourself to me. I don’t want you at all, as you’re just so annoying.

He looked at Chen Keyao: “If you really want to repay me, just promise me a few things.”

“Go ahead?”

“That person today, the one who is especially easily shocked and screamy. Is that your editor?” Rong Yi asked.

Chen Keyao was surprised.

“I guessed it right, didn’t I?” Rong Yi was excited.

The young man kept calling Chen Keyao ‘teacher, teacher’, but did not look like a child’s parent. There were also distinct keywords in their aimless conversations. Considering that Chen Keyao claimed earlier that his job was all brain-based, it was most likely a writing job.

And, it was probably quite successful as well. Otherwise, how could he have made his editor so desperate and yet he could live such a good life without worrying about money.

Chen Keyao’s expression now corroborated his speculation.

This guy... looked rather embarrassed.

“So you really are a writer?” Rong Yi stared at him.

“Uh...”Chen Keyao was a bit shy, “I just write something at random. Can’t be called a ‘writer’ yet.”

Although Rong Yi didn’t like the way he looked at the moment, he had no intention to ridicule him. After all, Chen Keyao’s image in his heart all this time was one with brawn but little brains. Now that he suddenly found out his hidden identity, Rong Yi started to look at him with an admiration.

And he was looking even a bit more charming because of his current bashfulness.

“I want to read what you write!” Rong Yi was thrilled, “What’s your name?”

Mr. Chen hesitated:”...My name is Chen Keyao.”

That was bullshit.

“Your pen name is your real name?” Rong Yi asked.

“Not really...”

Seeing Chen Keyao being so secretive, Rong Yi’s suspicions were even more inevitable.

“If it’s so embarrassing to reveal, could it be that you’re writing porn...”

“How could that be?” Chen Keyao immediately denied, “They are all formally published, OK?”

“Then why wouldn’t you let me know?”

“Why do you have to know,” he said. “Hasn’t it been all fine all this time when .you didn’t know?”

Extremely suspicious.

But he was determined not to tell, so there was nothing Rong Yi could do about it.

“You’re probably pretty famous,” Rong Yi thought for a moment. “I heard your editor saying the third book was a year and a half ago...”

“Look, you’re still quite ill. Don’t try to overuse your brain,” Chen Keyao rubbed his hands together, “Why don’t you have some yogurt instead and get some sleep?”

“Don’t mention the word yogurt to me ever again, “Rong Yi was frowning, “I’m sick of hearing it now.”

Chen thinks:”...Well, get some hot water then.”

“Forget it,” Rong Yi waved his hand. “I’m going online tomorrow to find out.”

“...”Chen Keyao looked rather miserable. He suddenly said, “Didn’t you say a few things, then tell me the rest of them?”

Hearing this, Rong Yi’s attitude suddenly turned very gentle.

“That.” He quickly pointed to those covered derivative products on the table. “When I move back to my room, I want to display that calendar.”

Chen Keyao’s face sank immediately and looked at him very seriously: “Only over my dead body.”

“...”

“Don’t even think about it. This is the bottom line I can’t back down. It’s already my greatest mercy not to throw them out.”

Rong Yi turned his head.

“I really can’t understand why you like him so much?” Chen Keyao looked at him with a frown.

“I don’t understand either” Rong Yi also frowned, “Why do you hate him so much?”

Chen Keyao, with a blistering look, moved his eyes away and did not utter a word.

Rong Yi suddenly got enlightened: “Big writer, could it be that you personally know him?”

“No!” Chen Keyao suddenly raised his voice.

Rong was startled. Just when he was about to say something, as if the previous denial was not strong enough, Chen Keyao added: “No overlapping, no involvement, no nothing with him in my whole life.”

“...”

Rong Yi was even more suspicious.

It was a casual remark that was not very serious, but Chen Keyao was so overreacting, which made Rong Yi start to suspect.

After all, this man was usually very agreeable, and rarely had any temper. So far, he had never taken so unkindly to anything.

“...I got it.” Rong Yi swallowed his saliva, “Was it that you tried to chase after him and he rejected you, so that you became so embarrassed and angry?”

Chen Keyao took a deep breath.

“I was right again!” Rong Yi was excited.

“You’re the big writer,” Chen Keyao said. “With more fabrications, you could write a book already.”
