Mr. Rong's Lovelorn Diary

Chapter 40 - So…do you take a fancy to me or not?

Rong Yi felt that when Chen Keyao reached his father’s age, he might nag even more.

From the moment he got off the car, this guy had kept nagging behind him.

“You’ve just met once and exchanged two words, and you managed to remember his name so well. Aren’t you a bit too hungry for your choice of ‘food’?”

Rong Yi ignored him: “None of your business.”

“Do you really have crush on anyone who’s good-looking?”

This was not far from the truth, but it was very uncomfortable to hear these words from his mouth in such a tone.

Rong Yi became angry. “Aren’t you like that yourself? You had such a good chat with him. You also exchanged contact information.”

“He offered to exchange it with me,” said Chen Keyao. “Unlike you, I didn’t rush toward him all of a sudden...”

The elevator door opened. Rong Yi went in and pressed the close button immediately before Chen Keyao followed in.

“What are you doing!” Chen Keyao squeezed in before the elevator door closed. “It’s dangerous, okay?”

Rong Yi turned his back on him.

“Are you still drunk?” asked Chen Keyao.

“I said I’m not drunk.”

“Okay,” Chen Keyao looked at him. “So you were very sober when you went to ask for his phone number just now, weren’t you?”

“What are you trying to say?”

“Nothing.” Chen Keyao turned to the elevator door and finally shut up.

The elevator went up all the way in their silence. Finally, when the door opened again, Rong Yi wanted to go out, but was blocked by Chen Keyao standing in front of the door.

“What the hell are you doing?” Rong Yi pushed him.

Chen Keyao suddenly turned around and said, “Don’t you think you’re a bit too loose?”

“What have I done?” Rong Yi stared at him. “What made you qualified to say that about me? You threw yourself at him so enthusiastically and even drove him all the way home just because you think he is good-looking?”

“I’ve told you that I didn’t see him clearly at all when I stopped the car.”

“Did you see him clearly when you drove him home then?”

As soon as he spoke, the elevator door closed automatically.

Chen Keyao turned around and pressed the key to open the door. “So what? Should I have left him alone on the roadside? If it’s a problem to drive someone home, how many times have you been driven home by me?”

Rong Yi went silent.

He frowned, lowered his head, bit his lips, and shouted in his heart: So do you take a fancy to me or not?

The elevator door opened again and Chen Keyao finally walked out. Rong Yi followed him and watched him fish out the key from his pocket, open the door and go inside. Suddenly, he could not help muttering.

“... I didn’t mean to remember his name either.”

Chen Keyao looked back at him.

“If I had really wanted his number, I would have asked last time,” he continued.

Chen Keyao looked a little puzzled. He hesitated for a moment before nodding in a daze: “... Oh.”

Rong Yi suddenly began to get cross: “It was all because I had to rush back to feed you, pig!”

“What?” Chen Keyao frowned. “What’s wrong with me?”

Rong Yi ignored him, entered the apartment, changed his shoes and went into his room immediately, slamming the door.

.

Chen Keyao, this asshole, had ten thousand ways to make him upset.

What’s wrong with asking for a phone number? Didn’t he laugh and talk with Yu Wenluo all the way himself? Could it be that he was so irritated because he wanted to date Yu Wenluo himself and was afraid of me interfering with it?

The more Rong Yi thought about it, the more suspicious he felt, so he decided to meddle with it.

Alcohol could bring people infinite motivation. Rong Yi took out his mobile phone and started WeChat. But looking at the empty dialog box, he didn’t know what to say for a moment, so he entered Yu Wenluo’s Moments to do some observation first.

When he saw the first post, he burst into laughter.

“Car broke down halfway, but was saved by a Mafia Brother! Millions of thanks!”

Rong Yi couldn’t help punching the bed with laughter when he thought of the expression Chen Keyao, the scarface man, when he saw this post.

He finished laughing and immediately sent a ‘like’ comment.

Concerned that Chen Keyao would miss this post, he even wanted to take a screenshot. But just at this moment, he suddenly received a comment alert.

Chen Keyao responded to the post.

“I am not...I don’t… I am a good citizen... [grievances].”

Rong Yi’s smile froze in an instant. He frowned and looked back and forth at the line more than a dozen times, feeling that every stroke was written with some restlessness and ulterior motives.

After a while, Yu Wenluo still had not replied. He became more and more anxious.

Are these two guys having a private conversation?

The more he thought about it, the more suspicious he became. Rong Yi, holding back his frustration, scrolled down to read more of Yu Wenluo’s friends circle posts, and found out that he had sent a ticket link yesterday asking if anyone wanted to go and play TAKAGISM with him.

Rong Yi hesitated for half a second and sent a ‘like’ comment.

Then he replied with a comment, “Wow, it looks so interesting!”

A few minutes later, Yu Wenluo had not responded, but there came a knock on Rong Yi’s door.

At this time of the day it could be none other than Chen Keyao.

Rong Yi frowned and opened the door. It was indeed Chen Keyao standing outside. This guy looked very unfriendly, and it was rare that he didn’t come with a stool this time.

“What are you trying to do?” He said, “What are you trying to achieve, posting up ‘like’ comments in other people’s friends circle one after another in the middle of the night?”

“... What’s it got to do with you?” Rong Yi was not threatened at all. “How would you have found out that I gave him comments if you hadn’t been checking it yourself?”

“What’s the problem with me checking it?” Chen Keyao looked irritated. “At least I’m not like you...”

Halfway through his ranting, Rong Yi suddenly looked down at his phone and then laughed. It was from Yu Wenluo.

“All the friends who’ve been there said it’s real fun. Are you interested? It’ll be my treat!”

Rong Yi shook his phone in front of Chen Keyao. “I’m not only giving him comments, but also going to have a date with him. What do you have to say?”

Chen Keyao stared at his phone screen for a moment and moved his eyes to his face.

“... Date? ”

Rong Yi nodded proudly.

Chen Keyao rolled his eyes in an exaggerated manner, took his phone out of his pocket, and then sent a voice message to his face.

“You’re going to the TAKAGISM game with him? Would you mind taking me with you as well?”

He put down his phone and smiled at Rong Yi.

Before Rong Yi came up with the counter-attack tactics, Chen Keyao received a reply, which was also a voice message.

“Of course, as it happens, are you two free tomorrow? If OK, I’m going to buy tickets now?”

Yu Wenluo knew nothing about the tense atmosphere between Rong Yi and Chen Keyao and sounded very happy.

Rong Yi and Chen Keyao, each holding their mobile phones, stood there staring at each other.

Then, both of their mobile phones suddenly vibrated at the same time.

Yu Wenluo pulled them together into a group chat.

‘Quick, answer me! Are you free tomorrow?’

He urged in the group chat.

.

So this trip of three people had nothing to do with a sweet date.

But Rong Yi still made a point to dress up. Knowing that Chen Keyao was in the living room, he deliberately shuttled back and forth from his room to the bathroom, changing three sets of clothes repeatedly.

“What’s the fuss? It doesn’t seem to make any difference.” Chen Keyao frowned with a speechless expression.

Rong Yi stared at him: “You’re blind.”

Both men held back their vexation and went out together on time. Rong Yi, as usual, sat in the back seat of the car.

Chen Keyao sat in the driver’s seat, turned the key and muttered in a low voice: “Aren’t you still being driven there by me?!”

Rong Yi exploded immediately and raised his hand to open the door. His hand was barely on the door handle, when he suddenly heard a “click” sound. The door wouldn’t open.

“Why did you lock it?” He questioned the driver.

“Can’t you just stay still?” Chen Keyao said as he stepped on the accelerator. “Why are you being so naive?”

Being defeated by this guy whom had been stamped as a na?ve devil in his mind all this time, Rong Yi was rather unhappy.

“Stop the car, open the door, and I’ll go myself.”

“Don’t make a fool of yourself. You’re sure to be late if you go out to take a taxi by yourself. Then we’ll have to wait for you. It’s a waste of everyone’s time.” Chen Keyao said seriously and righteously, “You’re indeed very na?ve just as I said before.”

Rong Yi was feeling choked, so he decided not to talk to this guy for the time being.

The atmosphere in the car was dull. Rong Yi was bored, so he got out his mobile phone to search for the details of the venue to be visited later.

Once in the web browser, he habitually clicked on the forum, and then was surprised to find that the private message sent a while ago had finally been answered.

“The effect was minimal, only really cured the symptoms but not the root cause, and progress was slow. It’s quite worrying. It’s the first time I’ve heard that someone has similar troubles to mine. Can you please give me your friend’s contact details if it’s convenient? I would like to communicate with him personally.”

Rong Yi took a peek at Chen Keyao, who was concentrating on driving.

He didn’t want this guy to know that he had paid special attention to certain information on the Internet secretly, which would make him look too concerned about Chen Keyao.

After thinking for a moment, Rong Yi decided to tell a little lie. He hesitantly typed in a reply.

“To tell you the truth, my friend is me. I didn’t admit it before because I felt a little embarrassed. It’s rare to see someone with the same illness, so I’d like to know about your treatment details. Is it convenient to reveal?”

After pressing Send, Rong Yi felt a little guilty for a while, and quickly shut down the browser, even forgetting to check the information he had wanted to search for.

.

That TAKAGISM game venue was not far from their home and it only took about half an hour to get there by car.

After parking in a nearby parking lot, the two men went silently to their destination one after another. Rong Yi walked in the front, feeling that Chen Keyao’s eyes always remained on him. He wanted to turn his head around to confirm, but was afraid of being embarrassed, so he was walking rather awkwardly.

They finally reached the entrance of the venue in this delicate atmosphere, ten minutes before the schedule.

Although not necessary, Rong Yi deliberately took out his mobile phone and sent a message to Yu Wenluo in front of Chen Keyao.

“I’m here, waiting for you at the door!”

Half a minute later, Yu Wenluo called.

“I’m so sorry,” the voice on the other end of the line sounded very anxious. “I was in such a hurry that I forgot to tell you. I may not be able to come today.”

“... Ah? ” Rong Yi was stunned.

“My daughter suddenly fell ill,” Yu Wenluo said. “I’m in the hospital now.”

“Your... Daughter? ” Rong Yi repeated it foolishly.

“Yes, she was vomiting and having diarrhea and a fever, which has scared me to death,” Yu Wenluo apologized. “I have bought the tickets already, and I will send them to you now. You two go and play.”

The author’s notes:

Yu Wenluo: ... Why am I such an Apollo?

PS. The name of the supporting role was basically a result of random keyboard pressing and then picking some characters blindly. There was no prototype.

But if anyone really wants to find a subsitute... After I had searched the images through Baidu, I thought that might be OK?
