Chapter 212 - An Empty Title
It was not uncommon for the newbies to assume the world of Hell to be like an RPG game. And they wouldn\'t have been wrong except that the difficulty level of this game was of lunatic standards and death here meanth eternal slumber.
But that was not the only factor why a true \'resident\' of hell would never call it so.
The markets in hell were highly stable making it next to impossible to predict the next rise or fall in market volumes unless you have the authority to influence it. Unlike those RPG games where the cost of items could be fixed and even had discounts during certain events, the prices in hell can rise to sky high to pummel to ashes overnight. It was highly volatile and unpredictable for the newbies who weren\'t acquainted with it.
Not to mention that the society in hell was only partially industrialized. While there was no lack to raw material for creation of machinery, magical items like potions and enchanted weapons could hardly be created by machines. They required skills only granted by the satan\'s system.
As such the death of an influential alchemist could cause the prices of potions to go sky high while the rise of a talented alchemist could cause the prices of the same to fall to dirt cheap levels.
Nevertheless, the markets still followed the laws of supply and demands.
\'This event can cause ripples in history. I have to stop it if I can.\'
The sudden homicide of the newbies was also a major incident that could cause the markets to fall into a bear state. One must remember that the newbie drill was like a ploy to trap the newbies. In the end the newbies were like commodities for the upper echelon that was necessary fot the advancement of their guilds. As such every newbie had his own price tag.
This could hamper Klautz\'s growth. One must note that even now he was reliant on stamina potions and there would be many more things in the future that he would have the need to buy. A hunter needs to rely on a plethora of things to fight monsters unlike a ninja who only worked in the shadows hardly having any conflicts.
Not only that, it might create ripples in history causing problems for Klautz in the future as well.
No matter how strong Klautz gets he cannot fight 72 demon lords all alone. If they came at him one by one? Sure he could do that alone. But reality was hardly so sweet and straight forward. He needed the help of the united humans and such an event would only sow discord causing the humans to be further driven apart.
That was what Klautz thought.
But who could have thought that all of this, that could very much topple the power balance of the world was an act of Kishigakure to destroy its small competitor? Kishigakure only thought of the short term benefits and never bothered with the long term effects it would cause to the world. It never had, it never did.
This was the very reason why Klautz wanted to kill the entire village as soon as possible! They were like a plague to the humans.
Verona glanced at Klautz. Who was seemingly lost in thought causing her to pout.
The lack of attention that he was receiving had caused her to frown. She was the one pushing herself for him here! At least she deserves attention and pity. She was going to be used as a bait.
\'Shouldn\'t he give more attention to my state now?\'
Verona felt like a child craving for attention. One must not forget that ever since the trial of Control she had been left alone making her turn into an attention seeker. She didn\'t want to lose the attention she deserves from her lover.
Verona wrapped her hands around Klautz as her lips bloomed to a mischievous smile at her own childish thoughts.
"Klautz, I am willing to do this. But you better compensate me for it." Verona squeaked.
She tried to maintain her composure in herself trying to remind her that there was nothing wrong with being so forward. But alas she couldn\'t hold back the reddening of her cheeks in embarrassment.
Klautz stroked those same reddened cheeks.
"What do you want?" Klautz asked.
There were a very limited number of things that Klautz could actually accomplish. He might be strong on the outside but on the inside he was aware of his weaknesses.
He had served as a ninja for his whole life. Therefore the only thing he was good at was ninja work which he was never gonna do for his own hate against the profession.
As a human raises higher and higher in his field of expertise, his skills in other fields only deteriorate further.
Ask the best swimmer alive, how good he was at swinging the baseball bat? Probably not much.
Take Sir Isaac Newton for example. He was said to be a genius. But his generosity was only limited to his field. This was proved when he had lost a huge fortune in investments. As he himself had stated, \'I can calculate the trajectory of motion of celestial bodies. But I cannot calculate the craziness of the people.\'
Klautz too was the same. He was the best ninja but other than that… he was good for nothing. Which was not necessarily a bad thing since in hell survival was the top priority. But he feared that he might not meet the expectations of his newfound love.
One must remember, the pains and trials had gone through as he had risen through the ranks at Kishiogakure. Which further sets an example of how deep rooted his hatred was to have forsaken that glory. For Klautz knew that it was a glory in name. The title of \'Rank A\' ninja was an empty one.
