Chapter 139. Jennie? No, no, SamSoonie! (2)
Chapter 139. Jennie? No, no, SamSoonie! (2)
“Jennie, you’ll get hurt.”
Song HakTae spoke worriedly seeing that Lee SamSoon stepped up. However, she inserted the L shaped lever into the tractor and cranked it hard.
“Huuuh?”
Both the cast and the staff were shocked by Lee SamSoon’s actions.
‘Does she know what she’s doing?’
‘Just how much screen time does she want?’
Some of the ladies frowned thinking that Eddios was trying to get viral marketing out of this.
And just as they thought.
Although Lee SamSoon kept trying, the tractor did not turn on.
“Producer Yeo, are you sure that’s not broken?”
Song HakTae gave a sharp glance towards producer Yeo WoonHyun. However, he shook his head.
“It worked fine until yesterday.”
“Then why is it like that today?”
Song HakTae quarreled with the producer as he thought that a little girl wrestling with a machine didn’t look too good.
Lee SamSoon did not take her eyes off the tractor despite the circumstances. She even put on the gloves that were hanging on the handles and opened the engine.
“Jennie! What if you break it?”
Yeon JiYong shouted in shock, but to the extremely focused SamSoon, it was like preaching a cow. The other women also widened their eyes and they started screaming.
“It’s not heating up properly. Can you get me some hot water?”
Lee SamSoon shouted towards the staff. Although the members of the staff had heard her background, they did not imagine that she would be like this. The Jennie from Eddios was all but gone, and in her place was a country girl with engine oil on her hands.
“JaeShik.”
“Yes!”
Producer Yeo WoonHyun signaled one assistant director. Although the program’s motto was to take care of everything by themselves, he was pressured by Lee SamSoon’s aura. Hearing orders from his senior, the assistant director brought some hot water they were boiling in a pot to drink some tea later.
“Thanks.”
Having received the pot, Lee SamSoon poured that hot water into the place where the antifreeze would usually go. Seeing her act without a shred of hesitation, the others became shocked.
“Jennie!”
“Are you crazy?”
“Seonbae!”
Yoon SeulGi, Miri, and even Nael shouted towards Lee SamSoon. Reasonably speaking, pouring hot water into the tractor didn’t make sense to them.
However, Lee SamSoon kept nonchalantly pouring the hot water and then stood up to crank the lever again.
“It’s not turning on because it’s cold. It’ll work once it’s heated up.”
“What?”
Lee SamSoon spoke calmly, but everyone other than Song HakTae couldn’t understand a word she was saying. What she said did not explain her actions of pouring hot water into the engine. The ladies kept asking her questions, but Lee SamSoon only told them to wait for a while and did not answer them individually.
Although it was a short period of time, the ladies of the cast were talking about how they should bring someone from the village. Even Song HakTae felt nervous because he felt that he was about to break a functioning tractor.
However, five minutes later.
Lee SamSoon grabbed the lever again before cranking it slightly and then hard.
Then,
Rattle, rattle…
The sound they all wanted to hear from the tractor could be heard. It was the sound of the engine.
“Woooow!”
The cast all cheered out loud hearing the engine. Any suspicion of Lee SamSoon was gone, and everyone came up to her to fawn over her.
“Jennie, you’re amazing! Awesome.”
“Unni, I love you!”
Everyone praised Lee SamSoon’s achievements. Song HakTae coughed awkwardly and put away his doubts as well.
Even the staff were shocked.
‘What kind of plot is this?’
It was a jackpot. This was much better than what KangYoon had told him when he asked to put Jennie into the program.
“Let’s go!”
“Go, unni, go!”
Lee SamSoon was in charge of the wheels as well now and started driving down the road.
‘This, this is amazing!’
What would the viewers think of this?
Producer Yeo WoonHyun thought about the picture that Lee SamSoon’s current actions would show to the viewers behind the screen. He no longer needed to say anything.
He resolved that he would give the viewers the best quality editing.

Inside the studio, Jung MinAh was currently listening to the song that KangYoon had brought.
“It’s good. It’s completely my style of music.”
The song was satisfactory. Jung MinAh took off her headset and put her thumbs up towards KangYoon.
“You like it?”
“Yes, a lot.”
KangYoon sighed in relief.
“Phew, it’s good to hear that. It was a little hard this time.”
“Sorry about that. I just didn’t get the feel.”
“I know. Just… brass is really… I’m glad you like it.”
When he received the song from HeeYoon, he also received a list of requirements suggested by Jung MinAh. He considered the majority of them when he did his rearrangement, but Jung MinAh shook her head saying that it didn’t feel right. KangYoon asked which part wasn’t to her liking, but Jung MinAh was unable to give him a concrete answer. This was where the problem lay.
Her style was going by the ‘feel’. Although she once topped the trainees regarding the movements of her body in her trainee days, she had no clue regarding theory or anything that used her brain.
KangYoon had a hard time adjusting his music to suit Jung MinAh’s tastes.
“Ahjussi, I was so surprised. You were this good at music?”
“MinAh. We’re working right now.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, hehe.”
Jung MinAh stuck her tongue out before speaking again.
“Anyway, this song is the best! I’m having my comeback through this, right?”
“To be exact, it will be your debut. Your solo debut.”
“Wow.”
Jung MinAh’s eyes were filled with hope.
“Not yet. Now we need to find someone to make the choreography.”
“I can just make one myself….”
Jung MinAh was rather disappointed about not being able to make the dance routine. However, KangYoon shook his head, saying that it was not time yet.
“I know your skills, but choreographing is another matter. First, you’ll learn how to make one from a professional.”
“Okay. I’ll listen, since it’s you saying it, ahjussi.”
“MinAh.”
“Yes, yes, yes, yes.”
Jung MinAh grumbled.
Smiling, KangYoon turned his eyes to the clock.
“He’ll be here soon.”
“Someone’s coming?”
“The choreographer.”
“What? Really? What kind of person is he?”
The choreographer was going to be here when they just finished the song. Jung MinAh couldn’t hide her surprise at the quickness of KangYoon’s work.
KangYoon talked about the choreographer.
“Have you heard of Bang SanHyuk?”
“Wait, wait. Bang SanHyuk? Isn’t his crew the number one breakdancing crew in the world?”
Jung MinAh couldn’t hide her surprise. As she was interested in dancing, she naturally knew about the number one b-boying crew in the world.
“You know them?”
“Of course! Bang SanHyuk is the leader of the Battlemonster crew. you know him too, ahjussi?”
“…MinAh. This is the third time already.”
“Ah, okay, fine. You really are picky at times like these….”
“……”
Jung MinAh grumbled and turned away when she saw the seriousness in KangYoon’s eyes. Although he was usually kind, he always maintained his bottom line. If she crossed that line, he would become scary. As such, she took a step back.
“A, anyway. They’ve been the unshakable first place now for 3 or 4 years now. Oh, yeah. They did a concert with JooAh-unni too. That was your doing, right, ahju– I mean, president?”
“Yes. I got to know him back then.”
“So it’s that…..”
Jung MinAh’s eyes were colored in surprise again. KangYoon looked even more handsome now.
At that moment, someone knocked on the studio door. KangYoon and Jung MinAh answered simultaneously before Lee HyunJi brought someone in.
The man had a low ponytail. It was Bang SanHyuk, and he extended his right hand towards KangYoon.
“Team leader. It has been a long time. How have you been?”
“Hello?”
KangYoon exchanged greetings with Bang SanHyuk. They hadn’t met for years now.
Lee HyunJi brought some hot coffee and told him to sit. The four of them sat down on the sofa.
Jung MinAh briefly introduced herself as well, and the four of them started to talk about work.
KangYoon spoke first.
“I told you through the phone, but I want you to make the dance routine for our MinAh here.”
“Hm….”
Bang SanHyuk groaned.
‘Our… MinAh?’
Hearing KangYoon’s words, Jung MinAh wanted to scream out loud. However, this meeting was important and she couldn’t act like that.
Lee HyunJi also added in.
“I told you as we came down here, but we want choreography that’s in between breakdance and the dance routines normally done on TV programs. We looked to you for the job because we believe that you can make one.”
“Hm. I want to hear the song first.”
KangYoon immediately heeded that request.
Soon, Jung MinAh’s title song began with some brass sounds. Although the lyrics weren’t added yet, Bang SanHyuk enjoyed the music while shaking his arms and legs. He was leaving his body to the beat.
After listening to the song for the entire duration of 4 minutes, Bang SanHyuk spoke.
“The song is really good. It has a good feel. I think a powerful dance routine would work well.”
The song both had strong parts and soft parts and was rather natural for the body to move in accordance with. He thought that this was a very good dance song.
However, his worry was now directed towards Jung MinAh now.
“However, if I am the one to make the dance routine, I might end up making one more suitable for a man to dance. I wonder if Miss MinAh here can handle… such harsh moves.”
Jung MinAh was a little offended by that. So, your moves are too hard for me to handle?
Just as she was about to retort, KangYoon grabbed her hand.
As she turned around to see KangYoon, he replied in a soft tone.
“Really? Then, let me ask this. Do you think JooAh can handle the routine?”
It would be easier to talk about JooAh since Bang SanHyuk had performed with her before. Given JooAh as the standard, Bang SanHyuk spoke.
“JooAh… should be able to digest the moves without a hitch. It won’t be a problem with an energetic girl like her. Actually, she’s who I thought of when I heard this song.”
KangYoon then spoke in a confident tone.
“You can consider MinAh here as JooAh and create one suited for her. She has that much skill at least.”
“What?”
Both Jung MInAh and Bang SanHyuk were shocked by that statement. Jung MinAh’s jaws were agape.
“Wa, wait. I know that you aren’t someone to exaggerate, team leader… but, hmm. You’re saying that Miss MinAh here can handle breakdancing moves?”
“Yes, indeed.”
“*Cough*. Hm….”
Bang SanHyuk coughed awkwardly hearing that KangYoon was so confident.
Jung MinAh was definitely a beauty. JooAh’s traits were that she was feminine yet energetic despite her short stature, while Jung MinAh was tall and had all the curves where they needed to be. To bring out the best of her, a sexy-style dance would suit her more in his opinion. But now, KangYoon was comparing her to JooAh….
When Bang SanHyuk couldn’t understand his confidence in Jung MinAh, KangYoon calmly continued to persuade him.
“You can just think that you’re making a routine for JooAh. That routine, it’s fine if MinAh can’t handle it.”
“What?”
It’s fine if she can’t handle it? Bang SanHyuk was flabbergasted. However, KangYoon spoke with a confident expression.
“There’s no reason for MinAh to not be able to do what JooAh can. You can be at ease when creating the dance.”
“…….”
“Ahjussi….”
He compared JooAh with her. Jung MinAh’s eyes were shaking. She didn’t know that KangYoon had so much confidence in her. She clenched her fist unknowingly.
She resolved to never ever let him down.
After thinking a little, Bang SanHyuk spoke again.
“Phew. Okay, then. I get that you’re a frightening guy, team leader?”
“Me, frightening?”
“You’re stimulating one’s desires like it’s nothing. Whether it’s me, or Miss MinAh over there. Anyway, I understand. I’ll consider Miss MinAh here as JooAh and create the best dance routine. I’ll put my name on the line to not disappoint you.”
“Please take care of her.”
KangYoon shook hands with Bang SanHyuk.
***
“Ahjussi.”
Bang SanHyuk and Lee HyunJi went back and only the two of them were in the studio now. Hearing her call out to him, KangYoon turned around to her.
“MinAh, again, you shouldn’t cal….”
“You know, I’ll do my absolute best.”
Just as KangYoon was about to say to not call him that at the company, she spoke up first.
As to show her resolve, Jung MinAh’s eyes were glistening strongly.
‘She’s a hard-working girl after all.’
KangYoon patted her on the shoulders.
“Okay, do your best.”
“Thank you for believing in me.”
Jung MinAh bowed towards KangYoon.
He acted like he always had believed in her. She resolved to not disappoint his expectations.

“I’m back.”
KangYoon entered his house.
“Is no one here?”
Usually, HeeYoon would greet him back, but strangely, there was no presence inside the house today. KangYoon was confused and started walking towards Kim JaeHoon’s room. But then…
– I’m so sorry! I need to meet the choreographer with MinAh tomorrow…
– Uu….
Inside the room shared by HeeYoon and Reina, he could hear some conversation held in English.
– You told me you had time tomorrow!
– I’m so sorry. The choreographer’s only free time is tomorrow.
– Again? Uu….
Reina’s voice was colored in disappointment. HeeYoon continued speaking very apologetically.
– Please forgive me this once. I’ll definitely try to get some time.
– Okay, then… I guess there’s no choice.
– Thanks. I promise I’ll get some time soon.
KangYoon could no longer keep listening to the conversation. Thinking about it, HeeYoon hadn’t come to Korea by herself.
‘I was too ignorant.’
KangYoon was disappointed in himself. HeeYoon had brought her friend Reina here. Although this was regarding work, he didn’t want his sister to have a nonexistent private life and lose her friend like this.
However, he could also not forgo the meeting between the composer and the choreographer.
‘This is difficult.’
KangYoon went to his room and sighed deeply.
The next day.
“I’ll be off then.”
HeeYoon went to work early. She had to take some things from the company before she met up with Bang SanHyuk.
Unlike usual, KangYoon didn’t go to work early today. He and Reina sat by the dining table and ate breakfast that HeeYoon had prepared beforehand.
[Reina, is your tour around Seoul going well?]
[What? Yeah, well….]
Reina was very abstract about her answer. But then, she shook her head saying that traveling alone wasn’t fun.
Hearing that, KangYoon suggested.
[If it’s alright with you, why don’t I go with you today?]
[What, really?]
This was welcome news for her.
Reina’s eyes shone.
