Chapter 81: Natural Disaster?
Chapter 81: Natural Disaster?
"What are we going to do now?" Lin Yun asked as he watched the surrounding. Clearly, they wouldn’t be able to get out for the time being.
Lin Xiao scratched the back of his head as he mulled over. Obviously, he didn’t like to stay in this narrow cave for long, but his wounds were not completely healed yet. Besides, he didn’t know whether the water will reach this height or not.
"Let’s rest for now. We’ll discuss it later."
"I’m not tired."
"But I’m tired," Lin Xiao retorted.
Wenren Yu was helpless. "It’ll be good if you rest because you can recover quickly that way. We might need to climb again later."
"Got it."
Lin Yun watched his brother lied on the corner then he recalled the plants that he brought into the cave in the river. His expression turned awkward. "Now that it’s already flooding like this, do you think the plants inside the cave still intact?"
"Probably no..."
"Damn...."
Thinking of the years he spent cultivating those plants, Lin Yun wanted to cry. He didn’t really have much hobby because he was known to be sickly. However, taking care of herbs was one of the few activities that he enjoyed very much.
He felt sad that what he had worked on so far disappeared without a trace in just a blink of eye.
Wenren Yu sighed. He also recalled his garden back at Taiyi Sect. It might have been razed or burned down to ash by now.
"Just rest. We’ll need stamina to move tomorrow."
"Alright."
The water level was still raising and Lin Yun didn’t know how much it would raise. If it eventually reached this cave even though it was pretty high, they would have no other choice but to climb again in this rain.
"I’ll make fire first."
"Hmm."
...
Lin Xiao was not the only one who were resting on the mountain. Many other villagers were in the same situation at the opposite side. They were trying hard to climb as far as possible as the water continued to rise.
"Make way!"
"AAAAAAAA!"
Splash!
The sheer number and competition that the narrow space caused made many villagers left behind. Some of them were unable to withstand the sudden water increase and drowned before they even had the chance to leave.
It was truly a miserable sight.
"Where’s my father?" Xu Qin asked when she saw Su Hei. It has been a few hours since the rain started, but the water level was still rising. She was lucky because Liu Gang brought her along with him to the peak of the mountain along with other people who were chosen to be disciple.
Su Hei had just been fetched by the annoyed Liu Gang.
Looking at Xu Qin, Su Hei arched his eyebrows. "He’s heading to the north forest and I lost track of him. When the water surge in, I left."
In truth, he left much sooner, but he had no intention of telling that to Xu Qin. Since he had tried looking for Elder Xu in Lin Xiao’s house, he felt that he had already fulfilled his duty. There was nothing else that he was supposed to do.
"You didn’t find him?"
"No."
"Didn’t I ask you to find him?"
Su Hei looked at Xu Qin and sneered. "Do you really think that I’m going to risk my life entering the north forest far away and get myself killed just for your father? He must be chasing after Lin Xiao who go there."
"You...!" Xu Qin’s face turned red in anger. She knew what Su Hei said was reasonable. The two of them didn’t owe each other and she couldn’t possibly ask Su Hei to risk his life.
They were not close to each other.
’If only Su Han is here.’
No matter how indignant she was, Xu Qin knew that there was nothing that she could do. She could only brace herself and tried to accept whatever result there was. Looking at the water below them, her heart turned cold.
Just what caused this sudden heavy rain?
It had never happened before.
Not far from them, Luo Lan and Bai Xin were also looking at the water. Even though Liu Gang and the woman were already at Foundation Establishment stage, they were not completely invincible.
Facing numerous beasts would be impossible.
Not to mention, they wouldn’t be able to fend off such natural disaster on their own.
"Do you want to swim?" Luo Lan asked in nonchalant tone.
Bai Xin’s face turned dark. "Scram!"
"Hey! I’m just asking. Do you have to be that feisty?"
Looking at the nonchalant Luo Lan, Bai Xin felt that her patience was tested. "Your Master hadn’t returned for a long time but you’re still so nonchalant?"
"Why should I be worried of that woman?" Luo Lan asked in confused tone.
"She’s your master!"
"She’s only my senior sister."
"...What?"
