Chapter 74 Drunk
Zhang Liling and Tungmei enjoyed brunch over an academic chat in the simply decorated dining room of 4 dining chairs.
After eating, Tungmei washed the dishes before joining Zhang Liling in the living room to continue with their chat.
From school work then to gossip, to family and back to school again before they both got tired and went into the main bedroom, specifically belonging to Zhang Liling, to lay their tired body.
These two young ladies slept for 3 straight hours without waking up in the middle.
Zhang Liling was the first to wake up. She felt very hungry and tired when she opened her eyes and sat up on the bed.
She almost forgot where she was. It was when she looked around and saw Tungmei lying next to her that she recalled that she had come over at noon.
Sighing to herself, she got off the bed the next minute and went to make use of the bathroom. When she stepped out, Tungmei was trying to turn to her other side to continue sleeping.
"Tungmei! Get up!" Zhang Liling went to her bedside to call her up, but Tungmei groaned.
"please, allow me to sleep some more. I promise, I will open my eyes soon."
\'Open your eyes soon?\' Zhang Liling just thought that she heard the biggest joke for the day. She knew very well that that sleepy head had no plans of opening her eye anytime soon because she (ZL) was in her shoes earlier that day.
"Sleep all you want." Zhang Liling said before picking up her phone and leaving the room with it.
She went straight to the kitchen to find something to eat, but there was no snack apart from the remaining food that was supposed to be cleared up by her and Tungmei for the evening.
Zhang Liling rubbed her stomach through her dress before taking out a bottle of water. She uncapped it and took a few sips before putting it back and then taking out a can of beer.
There was a smile on her face as she left the kitchen.
By the time Tungmei came out half an hour later, Zhang Liling had already finished 2 cans of beer all by herself.
"Why did you drink without me?!" Tungmei asked with a gaze that showed betrayal.
Zhang Liling chuckled at her and said, "You said you would open your eyes in a few minutes and I was very hungry and couldn\'t wait for you. You should be thankful that I didn\'t eat the food instead."
"What a good way to say you are sorry. I\'m equally famished, can you heat the food for us now that I\'m awake?"
Zhang Liling and Tungmei exchanged a few seconds glance before the latter waved her hand dismissively. "Forget it! You lazy ass that makes your visitor work for you!"
Zhang Liling smiled in admittance.
Another half an hour later, the two ladies were drinking beer and playing card after eating.
"Liling, does your mother plan to remain in Paris?" Tungmei asked out of the blue.
"Plan? She doesn\'t have any. Paris is like a home to her. For me, it was a home for me, but I have become attached to this City to call it a home." Zhang Liling replied.
The mother she knew, would never want to relocate back to Country S. She had a stable and important job in Paris. She had influence and friends over there, and she felt more loved in Paris, so, why would she want to come back to Country S where she had nothing?
Being a Chief-editor of a famous magazine was a big deal. Song Jujing only climbed to that position a year before Zhang Liling came down to Country S.
"What about you, what are your plans? Are you going to stay here, or will you go back to Paris?" Tungmei asked.
Zhang Liling smiled at the thought of someone before replying while playing her cards, "I don\'t have any plans of going back to Paris. I will make City S become my forte. What about you, are you going back to your hometown after graduation?"
"No way!" Tungmei said while chuckling hard. "I will remain in S city. Besides, even if I want to go back or move to another city, my father will never allow that. He wants me to stay in this big city where there are many opportunities to work for big companies."
Tungmei didn\'t come from a rich home, so her father wanted her to find more opportunities in a big City like S city.
"Then stay here..."
There was a moment of silence in the room before Tungmei asking again, "Liling, are you going to work for your family after graduation?"
To that question, Zhang Liling refused to give a straight answer. "We will see about that... I won!" She said as she put down her last card while laughing heartily.
She didn\'t trust that she should tell her plans to anyone at the moment. It was still too early to say anything.
Tungmei flung her cards to the floor and laid her back on the floor in annoyance. "You are such a bully!"
Zhang Liling chuckled and opened up another can of beer and slurped it. There were already about 5 opened cans of beer beside them on the floor.
Seeing as she wasn\'t replying, Tungmei sat up and picked up her remaining can of beer and chugged the little content down her throat.
"There is still one more can to go, you can have it." Zhang Liling said pointing at the only remaining can of beer left.
Tungmei glanced at it and said with a frown, "Forget it! I am not good at handling alcohol, I don\'t want to get drunk when I still have to go back to my place."
"Do I look like I have a high level of alcohol tolerance?" Zhang Liling asked.
Tungmei shifted her gaze to the empty cans of beer on the floor before shifting her gaze back to her, "Do you know how many cans of beer you have drank so far? I\'m surprised that you are still able to have your mind intact uptill this moment."
Zhang Liling thought for a moment before agreeing with her, "I\'m surprised too. By now, I should have been drunk and sprawled on the floor."
"You don\'t have any problem. This is your place and you can always crash anywhere you like. Whenever you regain your consciousness, you can always clean up your mess." Tungmei said before picking up her phone to check the time.
Zhang Liling hiccuped, "Do you know what I can do when I get drunk?"
"What can you do?" Tungmei asked without sparing her a glance.
Zhang Liling chuckled hard as she replied, "Even I don\'t know!"
