The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 62

“Thus whenever possible one made war after the main harvest or in winter before the heavy snow. This is why white gloves were of great importance. It was to protect the hands of the men from the cold.”

“They couldn’t be thick to not impede the handling of weapons but even the thin gloves could be a great help. They also had a secondary purpose but that’s not important. So.... do you understand what I mean.”

Yi Chen, ‘.....’

No, he doesn’t understand shit. What do gloves have to do with anything? Seeing his son’s look of indifference he sighed before explaining.

“What I mean is boys your age will begin to have urges and just like the soldiers who had to go to battle with their gloves on you should go to battle with protection. Do you understand what I mean?”

Yi Chen appeared calm on the surface but in truth, he was screaming internally. He couldn’t understand why his father chose to have this conversation right now. Was it something he did that gave his father the impression that he was having sex?

The hovercar fell into an awkward and embarrassing silence that the moment they reached the entrance of the academy Yi Chen abruptly got out of the hovercar like his very life depended on it.

“Dad, have a great day,” said Yi Chen with the rest of the sentence barely audible because he was already two feet away from the hovercar.

.....

“Yep.... you too,” replied Marshal Yi while pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance.

“Ahem..... sir, do you still need the visual aids,” said the driver after much hesitation.

Marshal Yi, “....”

“Do I look like I still need some fuckin visual aids? *Sigh... let’s go.”

Yi Chen’s expression was darker than usual as he walked straight into campus. When he turned the corner to get to class one, he suddenly noticed Zi Han who was standing down the corridor with Hela discussing who knows what in the morning.

His foot subconsciously turned to walk back right where he came from when Li Ran showed up from who knows where and draped his arm around Yi Chen’s shoulder. “Still in a bad mood? Fuck! Why do you look like a fuckin corpse? Did you even sleep last night?”

“I don’t want to talk about it,” he said while staring at the two who also happened to notice him. Now that he had been seen he couldn’t turn around and leave thus he had to suck it up and walk over.

“Good morning class president Chen,” said Hela looking like she was in an excellent mood.

Yi Chen nodded his head as he passed by. He didn’t even spare Zi Han a glance which made Hela feel a little surprised. Yi Chen was the cold type that apart from his circle of friends would keep everyone at arm’s length but he was never rude.

He would take the initiative to greet others even if it was a nod but today he just passed Zi Han without saying anything. She couldn’t help but smell gossip between the two of them.

She wanted to investigate but Li Ran didn’t follow after Yi Chen. Instead, he stood there looking at the chibi drawing Hela had been showing Zi Han.

“Vice, your skills have greatly improved but I still prefer the one you drew of m-,” he said before Hela shoved his head aside while yelling,

“Don’t fuckin call me that.”

“But he does. He just called you that yesterday,” complained Li Ran rubbing his sore temple.

“Yes, he can but you can’t. Call me that one more time and I will make you regret it,” she said her expression as intimidating as a bull on a rampage.

Li Ran who felt so happy having captured Hela’s attention suppressed a smile while staring at her with a taunting look in his eyes. “How will you do that?” he asked the smile on his face growing bigger and bigger.

“Try and you will see how I will make you pay,” she said pulling up her sleeve like she was ready to beat people up.

Like an idiot taunting an alligator with a stick, Li Ran directly said it, “Vice.” Two seconds later Zi Han was left standing there alone trying to figure out if he had just witnessed flirting or fighting.

He could feel the rage coming from Hela as she chased down Li Ran but there was some sweetness lingering in the air.

Zi Han shrugged his shoulders before turning on his heel to get into class only for his forehead to directly slam into someone’s rock hard chest.

“Seriously?... How long have you been standing there?” he complained while curling his fingers to strangle the person. He honestly thought it was Shorty standing behind him but when he raised his head he was met by the iceberg of a man staring at him.

“You are standing right by the door,” said Yi Chen his tone as flat as a cutting board.

Zi Han’s eye twitched when he realised he really had been standing by the door of the class. He had been afraid of getting caught in the crossfire by those two thus he subconsciously blocked the door for others.

“Uh.... sorry,” he said before moving aside. He was about to enter the room when he heard Yi Chen say,

“Sorry I was rude just now. I should have greeted you.”

Zi Han chuckled with a disconcerting smile before saying, “I didn’t greet the class president either hence there is no need to apologize.” After saying this he directly walked away leaving Yi Chen a little flustered.

It seemed for any type of friendship to happen between them Yi Chen would have to make a gesture so grand that Zi Han would have no choice but to accept him.
