Chapter 23
It was indeed like a story in a fantasy novel, and Bai Chen felt like he was dreaming when he heard the story about the legendary Daoist and the Elder, as well as about how they sealed hatred under the mountain.
“If they really sealed the hatred under the mountain, then this mountain should be enveloped in such a dark and gloomy atmosphere of hatred, right? So, why do I feel that this place is calm and peaceful instead of having a dark atmosphere?” Bai Chen tried to use his brain to think as if he was originally from this world.
At a time like this, he was grateful that he had read a lot of Wuxia novels in his previous life, so he wasn’t that stupid when he heard Zhu Ge’s explanation.
“A person who has a lot of hatred in their heart gets angry easily, and they will be called hot-tempered. That’s why we can say that hatred has the element of fire,” Zhu Ge continued explaining. “The Daoist from the human empire and the Elder from the werewolf empire decided to use snow to extinguish the fire. In the end, snow was able to defeat fire, and this mountain became as peaceful as the name of this mountain.”
Bai Chen sighed before lifting his head from Zhu Ge’s head. He could feel that the story was over, and he could stop playing as if he was the truly flirtatious Bai Chen of his world.
“I heard that there are also demons in this world,” the shorter man spoke, but he didn’t look at the taller man.
.....
Now, Zhu Ge turned to him as there was a hint of surprise on his face. “You know about demons?” He asked.
Hearing how shocked Zhu Ge sounded, Bai Chen finally turned to the man. “Do you think I’m just a clueless Prince who doesn’t know anything?” He asked back.
Even if Bai Chen really didn’t know much about this world, he still acted as if he was an arrogant Prince who took offense when others looked down on him.
And the other man finally smirked at him. “Of course not,” he said. “It’s not that you’re clueless, but it’s just that your interests are different from other people. Am I right?”
Zhu Ge once again copied what he just said, and Bai Chen snorted in annoyance before starting to walk towards the snow mountain. “I heard about the demons from my servant,” he replied.
Zhu Ge smiled before trying to chase after the brown-haired man in white clothes. “Oh? What did you hear about them from your servant? What kind of demon did you hear from him?” Walking right next to the Werewolf Prince, he asked the questions.
The question made Bai Chen recall the memory of when Ma Qiao foolishly poured a bucket of water on top of his head, and he almost groaned in irritation.
“You know what?” The prince asked the man in red. “My dumb servant suddenly poured a bucket of water on my head because he thought I was under the Flute Demon spell.”
He still remembered how wet he was because of Ma Qiao, and he was still angry even after knowing the reason behind the servant’s actions.
“Oh?” Zhu Ge asked, and there was a hint of amusement in his tone. “So, you know about the Flute Demon?”
“Mhm,” Bai Chen replied as he continued to climb the mountain. The air grew colder, and he could only tighten his coat with his hands. “My servant said that the Flute Demon is a demon that wanders around with a flute in her hand, and when she starts to blow her flute, those who hear the melody of the flute will be under her spell, and they will remember the most painful memories they had in their lives.”
Even if Bai Chen had almost no knowledge of the demons in this world, he confidently recited what Ma Qiao had told him this morning.
“Ah, so you also heard about those rumors, and you think that the Flute Demon is a woman,” Zhu Ge commented as he nodded his head a few times. “That rumor also spreads in the human empire, and some people even go outside while covering their ears. That’s ridiculous, right?”
Bai Chen could hear Zhu Ge’s laughter, and he caught a glimpse of the taller man as it was the first time he had heard such a warm laugh from the man.
Bai Chen didn’t quite remember the expression on the man’s face when they were about to have sex last night, but he still remembered the look on the man’s face when the man grabbed Yu Ming’s hand earlier.
Zhu Ge looked like a ferocious dog that would bark and bite without a care, so he was surprised to learn that the man could let out such a genuine laugh.
Smiling to himself before turning his eyes to look ahead, Bai Chen replied, “That’s not ridiculous. People are too afraid of their most painful memories. Don’t you feel the same way when you have to face your most painful memories?”
Bai Chen didn’t even know why he suddenly sounded gloomy, but he was just one of those people who was afraid that he would have to recall his most painful memories. Without realizing it, he clenched his fur coat as the memory flashed through his mind.
His body also started to shiver, and Zhu Ge seemed to notice it. Perhaps the man in red thought that Bai Chen was suffering from the cold air, and while Bai Chen was still confined in his memories, a hand suddenly wrapped around his body.
Bai Chen was dumbfounded, but before he could try to free himself, another arm wrapped around his front, and the next thing he knew was that he was trapped in Zhu Ge’s arms.
