Little Miss Witch: Revenge of the Tainted Angel

Chapter 116 - You Aren't Li Xiuying (2)

Once they were done catching up with \'Sister Ying\', the children resumed their activities, allowing Li Chuntao to roam the orphanage. She was looking over the man-made lake when the voice of a man reached her ears.

"Ah, Lady Li. I\'m glad you are here," The man wasn\'t looking at her but at the chart in his hand.

Judging by his white coat and hands, Li Chuntao could tell he was also a doctor. A pediatrician perhaps. He might also be around the same age as Shen Zichen but unlike Young Master Shen who always dressed prim and proper, this man lacked sophistication and class in his choice of clothing.

He might be one of those men who lazily dressed because their face alone was good enough to attract attention from everyone.

When the man finally lifted his face to look at her, his brows knit as he stared at her face for several seconds.

"You aren\'t Lady Li…" he said after a long silence.

Li Chuntao smiled, her hands holding her handbag. She was startled at first, but then a sudden flicker of amusement was seen in her eyes. Aside from her Uncle Yuren and Shen Zichen, she\'d never met another person who could recognize her identity easily. Not even Mu Jianyu, the bastard couldn\'t even tell she wasn\'t his wife.

"You can tell?" She tested out. She was curious how he could tell from a single look.

The man gasped as if he was offended by Li Chuntao\'s question. His eyes widened in shock as he looked at her. So he was right?

"Of course! Not only you\'re taller than her, but your skin complexion is also paler than hers. Not to mention Lady Li always sported a smile that could warm the hearts of those who saw it…"

"So what about mine?" Li Chuntao continued to probe, curious as to why this stranger was able to notice her differences from Ying although this was technically the first time they met each other.

The man hesitated for a while before deciding to respond truthfully to her question.

"Yours is so cold, even the sun wouldn\'t be able to thaw it."

Li Chuntao let out a laugh and covered her mouth with one hand as the man scratched his head, a blush creeping on his face in shame.

"I\'m sorry. I realize it sounded rude just now." He apologized to her.

Li Chuntao hummed and tilted her head towards the lake.

"It\'s alright. It\'s not the first time I hear it. I\'ve been called worse," she replied.

"Then you must be Miss Chuntao," The man stated. "I\'m a friend of Lady Li. She used to share stories about you whenever she\'s missing you."

"Is that so?" This time, the playful tone in Li Chuntao\'s voice was totally gone. There was only coldness that the man could perceive from her.

Li Chuntao couldn\'t believe that Ying had been talking about her to a stranger she never knew existed till now. How come Ying mentioned her to this man but never to her own husband, Mu Jianyu?

"Yes. I apologize for the late introduction. I\'m Qin Linfeng. I\'m a volunteer pediatrician at the orphanage," he stopped and looked around them as if he was looking for someone.

"I wasn\'t informed that you\'re arriving today, Miss Chuntao. I was only told that Mu Jianyu and Lady Li came today for a short visit. May I know where Lady Li is? I have a few queries for her."

Qin Linfeng was oblivious to how dangerously cold Li Chuntao\'s aura was. Her eyes hidden by her hair, only her lips curling up at the absurdity of his question.

"For someone who I assumed was smart, you quite ruined your impression on me, Doctor Qin," she said in a low tone. "Ying isn\'t here and would never be here again," she added.

It was only then Qin Linfeng realized what was happening. It didn\'t take him long enough to figure out that the "Lady Li" who arrived with Mu Jianyu was this same woman who was Li Chuntao.

He straightened his posture and faced Li Chuntao, who was watching him like a hawk.

"What do you mean by that? Where\'s Lady Li?" He asked seriously. Qin Linfeng had a bad feeling about this and he dreaded to hear Li Chuntao\'s answer.

Li Chuntao turned her face to look at him straight in the eye. She didn\'t even hide the bitterness in her tone this time. Since he was smart enough to know who\'s who, then maybe he would figure out the events that lead her to pretend as Ying.

"Dead,"

Qin Linfeng was momentarily stunned by the revelation. The events and clues were starting to fall in their right places now. The accident, the news blackout, the refusal of the Li family to accept guests for Li Xiuying…

As he looked back at Li Chuntao, he could sense the coldness and viciousness hidden behind her mask. As far as Qin Linfeng could remember, Li Xiuying said that her twin sister had migrated abroad for her sake, not knowing that she was only hurting herself in the process.

Li Xiuying had high regard for her sister and Qin Lingfeng understood that the bond between the two was a complex one, and now that the younger twin was parading herself as Li Xiuying, what are the chances that she didn\'t die in a simple car accident?

"Doctor Qin, I expect that you will treat this information highly confidential. If you\'re really Ying\'s friend, as you claim to be, do this for her sake,"

"Miss Li…" Qin Linfeng almost called her by her name but decided to be wary of how he acknowledged her from now on, given that she was pretending to be Li Xiuying in front of everyone else.

"Have you seen the videos of the collision?" Li Chuntao asked.

Qin Linfeng nodded. It was impossible for him not to check the news since Li Xiuying was involved. It was all over the news when it happened.

The news about Li Xiuyin\'s accident not only filled primetime news slots but also the daily news. Qin Linfeng had seen how badly Li Xiuying\'s car was damaged after the collision in the news.

A normal person could easily lose their life from the impact the car received during the accident. Did this mean that she lost her life from it? Is that why Li Chuntao was pretending to be her sister right now?

Li Chuntao remained silent and let him sort out his thoughts over the matter. Li Xiuying was a high profile person. Not only was she a Li princess, but she was also the former CEO of the Li corporation before her passing.

Qin Linfeng finally understood the dangerous situation the Li twins were facing, but still, he couldn\'t believe that Li Xiuying was dead. This was something he wasn\'t ready to hear today. He was expecting a warm reunion, not a piece of cold-blooded news that could freeze the blood on his veins.

His jaws hardened, his resolve to protect the secret was strengthening with every passing second as he looked at Li Chuntao\'s impassive face. He\'d heard about the striking resemblance between the Li twins and now that he was face to face with Li Chuntao, he couldn\'t agree more.

"Miss Li, rest assured.. Your secret is safe with me."
